Eid Festival

On 1 July, the Envirogirls had a stall at an Eid festival in Gippsland. We spoke to the lady in charge of decorations before the event. We explained to her about the impact balloons have on the environment so she didn’t use them and the venue still looked great! We had an information stall at the festival as a way of creating awareness of our group, what we do and why we do it. At the start, we were a bit nervous about what to say but the more people we spoke with, the more confident we became at telling our story.
Relationships Australia (Traralgon) lent us badge making equipment so we got to make many name badges for both adults and children. It provided the perfect opportunity for people to come speak with us and it became a fun way of interacting. It was exciting to get interest from a Member of Parliament, namely Melina Bath.
Children who visited our stall could make trash puppets with reusable, recyclable materials. We also sold some Envirogirls cups, mugs and bumper stickers. Having a stall was a fun, effective way of getting our message out. Thanks to the help we got from our mothers and Caitlyn’s sister Aisha, we also got a chance to play and go on rides.
